If "everything is fine", is it worth saving energy? There are huge oil and gas reserves, large hydroelectric power plants and many nuclear reactors.Isn't it really enough? That's enough, but you still need to save because...
International Energy Conservation Day was established relatively recently, on November 11, 2008.The initiator of the festival is the environmental network "School Resources and Energy Utilization Project".
It seems that the children have come up with a holiday for themselves so that they can have fun and the adults don't care.In fact, this holiday was not invented by children, but by adults and responsible people who care about the fate of humanity and the planet.
Unfortunately, not everyone is aware of the need to save energy, so it is very important that the initiator of Energy Saving Day is a school project. If children understand why energy should be conserved, in the future they will not have to convince adults of the importance of caring for resources.
However - why? What does saving energy bring us?
1. Money
Everything is easy when you have money. We expend less energy - we pay less for it.Some people may grimace contemptuously: "Forget it, it's less!" But this is only one of the benefits of saving energy.
2. Comfort
A large portion of energy consumption is used to maintain a comfortable temperature in homes and offices. In winter - for heating, in summer - for air conditioning.
A properly configured climate system not only uses energy efficiently but also maintains a comfortable "indoor weather".No one is cold in winter, and no one is bored in summer.
3. natural
“Green” renewable energy sources continue to account for an increasing share of global energy production. But the amount of “clean” energy will soon not rival the amount of energy we get from burning natural gas, coal and petroleum products.
By burning hydrocarbons, we emit large amounts of substances into the atmosphere that are harmful to all living things, and not only ourselves, but also our animals, rivers, forests and lakes are affected by these substances.
The less energy we use and the less dirt that enters nature, the better our health is, the lusher our forests are, and the cleaner our water is.Our children see rabbits, storks or roe deer more and more often, not through the fences of the zoo, but on forest paths, out of train or car windows.
4. Climate
Every day the media reports on a new hurricane, catastrophic heat wave, flood or drought.Scientists blame global warming and link it to increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere.
One of the most powerful pollutants of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is energy.By reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions, we can stop negative climate processes.
Let the skeptics argue, with nothing really proven, that increased greenhouse gas concentrations may not be a cause of warming but a consequence of it.Is this a reason to reject something that could harm our planet? Is it too risky to wait for reliable confirmation? If they cross the point of no return, who will be waiting for them, who will need them?Of course not us, not us.
5.Economy and Technology
The lower the energy cost of production, the lower its price, the more competitive our goods will be and the greater the economic efficiency.
Efficient energy consumption inspires the development of scientific ideas and modern technology.Does anyone remember when American cars stopped refueling on the highway? After the first energy crisis in 1973.
The latest technologies provide technological leadership, make products more competitive, and enhance the country's economic and military security.
6. Children
We all work, have fun, debate politics and climb the career ladder. But don’t we live for our children?
The fewer of the earth's resources we consume, the more we leave for future generations.Isn’t it worth saving energy just for this?
